Day 2: Santa Rosa, NM to Bluff Dale, TX

Our night in Santa Rosa wasn't too bad. Aaron slept in SO long this morning. He was out cold and nothing we did woke him! We were almost completely packed up and ready to go before he rolled out of bed.

Eventually Matthew said he "stomped" his foot next to Aaron's head and that woke him up. Nice big brother, right? Anyway, we had a god breakfast at the hotel and headed out!

Driving through New Mexico we realized that we were going to pass by Billy the Kid's grave site. Chris got super excited so we decided to stop.

Apparently his tombstone was stolen twice, so now it's locked up.

There were a few other marked graves there in that little cemetery. This one made me laugh. "Joe Grant - Shot Jan 10 1880 by Will Bonney." Will Bonney is Billy the Kid.

We went into the gift shop to use the restroom and Chris bought the boys the bane of my whole trip. They are these bright orange play shotguns that have caused more harm than good today. They fought over them, hit each other with them, hit the car with them, and eventually Matthew pointed the gun point blank at Aaron's head. Needless to say, Mom took the guns away and the boys were very sad. If they are good, they will get them back tomorrow. But I'm pretty sure they will mysteriously disappear and reappear when we get moved in.

But I digress... We kept moving and stopped for lunch in Littlefield, TX. It was a pretty hot, unattractive little town. Our best option was a McDonald's for lunch, so that speaks for itself. The nice thing was that there was a little park down the street and the kids were able to play for a bit. There was a teeter totter! I haven't seen one of these in years.

Here is the beautiful ramada we sat under while eating our lunch...

We kept on driving and stopped in Abilene, TX for dinner at Chick-fil-a. Thank goodness! Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. I enjoyed it and so did the kids, because the play area was awesome!

After we left we drove another 2 1/2 - 3 hours to get to Bluff Dale. The drive was gorgeous. I love these beautiful sunsets! You could feel the moisture in the air when we got out of the barren wasteland of Western Texas. It was green and gorgeous and we loved it.

Now we are here at Chris's Uncle Lee and Aunt Eileen's beautiful home. The boys are sleeping upstairs and we're having a nice visit! I'm so grateful that we don't have to get in a car and drive tomorrow. Chris is going fishing early in the morning and we'll just visit and hang out tomorrow before heading to Jackson, MS Sunday morning.

Glad you made it though the flat ugly part of Eastern New Mexico and Western Texas.
