It's crazy to think that moving day is already here! We got most of our stuff packed Wednesday, but still had a lot of last minute things to do Thursday morning. My parents didn't go to work in the morning and they stayed until we left. That was really nice. I'm sure they had plenty waiting for them at the office, but they helped a lot just by being there.
Our goal was to leave by 11:00am and we left town at 11:30am. Not too bad! It was hard leaving. My parents were so sad, and when it came to saying good-bye the boys were a little confused at their tears. They knew that we were leaving, but I don't think it occurred to them that we would be going far enough away to not see Grandma and Grandpa all the time. It really sunk in for Matthew when we got in the car. He was trying so hard to hold back his tears and not cry. It was difficult to watch! I remember being so sad when we left my grandparents' house or when they would leave our house. We told Matthew it was okay to cry and he cried (silently) for about 3-5 minutes. Then he was okay and ready for our new adventure. I'm not sure Aaron really understands what is going on. He knows it's something, but it didn't hit him like it hit Matthew. Luckily my parents took advantage of a sale that Southwest was having and they booked tickets to come visit us at the end of September. We were able to tell the boys that and they were happy.
Since we left so close to lunch time, we decided to stop in Flagstaff. It decided to greet us with a beautiful monsoon!
We put air in our tires and got gas at Fry's, and then headed to Wildflower Bread Company for lunch. Delicious!! Their chicken salad sandwich and potato cream cheese soup combo is to die for. Chris got a Mediterranean salad and the boys had box lunches. It was yummy. We didn't rush and it was nice.
Matthew took a decent nap in the car and eventually Aaron fell asleep too.
We pulled into Albuquerque around 8:30pm local time and decided to eat at Golden Corral. Matthew loves that place! He gets to see all the food he can choose and their dessert bar has cotton candy. Both boys were SO excited. Before we got to the restaurant we passed by a McDonald's with the biggest play place I have ever seen! Matthew wanted to go eat there so that he could play, but we decided to let them play after dinner.
They played for a bit at McDonald's and then we headed to Santa Rosa! We got there pretty late and ended up in a smoking room. The manager of the hotel put us in a different room, but it didn't have a microwave or fridge. So she was kind enough to let us borrow the microwave from her office for the night. We were very grateful!
