Matthew's Princess Party

Matthew was invited to the birthday of two cute little girls in his preschool class. Catherine and Morah are twins and Matthew was super excited when he received his invitation to their Princess Party. He was assured that there would be plenty of fun for girls AND boys. I went with him. At first it was a little weird, since he and I didn't really know anyone. There were mostly girls there and at the time they weren't super talkative with Matthew. There was a boy from his class there, but he kind of kept to himself. I didn't know any of the adults, but we managed to enjoy ourselves! 

The party really got started when Cinderella and Belle showed up. This party has now raised the bar of what Matthew expects at every birthday party from here on out: characters and face painters!!! They told stories, sang songs, and danced. It was pretty great.

The owner of the party company was painting faces. She was fantastic!

We had delicious pizza and the kids had a blast making crafts, dancing, and playing.

It took a bit for Matthew to open up, but he did eventually. It was hard to see Matthew struggle so much making friends when he first started school. He felt like no one talked to him in his class. Catherine and Morah only wanted to play with each other when Matthew would try to play with them. But all of that has changed now. They like Matthew and make sure to say bye to him every day. It warms my heart to see Matthew have friends. It breaks my heart to hear how much he misses Flagstaff. He misses his best friend, Hyrum, more than words can express. He asked Chris the other day if he could do chores so he could get money to buy a plane ticket for Hyrum. Just yesterday he asked me if we can move back "home" to Flagstaff after Daddy is done with school so that he could be at home and be with his friend Hyrum. I told him that Hyrum's family was moving to Idaho and that they wouldn't be in Flagstaff anymore. He literally had to fight back tears at the thought of never seeing Hyrum again. My little boy is so sweet and sensitive. I love him so much!

Anyway... Hopefully by November he has forgotten all about how cool this party was, because we certainly cannot afford characters or face painters!!!
