We got a really pleasant surprise on Sunday when we got back from Flagstaff. I think it was Sunday? Anyway, Chris's dad called to tell us he was coming to visit!!!! We were so happy. We had asked everyone in Chris's family to carpool and come visit us while we were so close to them, but it didn't work out for anyone. We were pretty disappointed. It's really hard not seeing family. We haven't seen Chris's mom, his sister Dixie, or his brother Erik in over a year and a half. Chris saw them at Lee and Eileen's funeral, but the kids and I haven't seen them since May 2012. We made plans over Christmas to see Sara and her girls along with Dixie in Vegas, but Sara had to cancel. We were so bummed because we knew that we wouldn't be on the West coast again for a long time. So when Larry let us know he was coming, it was such exciting and happy news! Then on Monday we got a phone call from Sara asking us where we were going. Turns out she came with Larry and surprised us. We were so happy! Especially Matthew and Aaron!
We spent some time playing and visiting at my parents' house. Aaron and Matthew were in heaven with Grandpa Larry and Aunt Sara!
After a while we headed to Taco Bell to meet Chris's Uncle Theron for lunch. Matthew insisted that he sit with Uncle Theron and Grandpa Larry.
After lunch we tried to go visit Chris's Uncle Loren at work, but he was busy. Matthew thought everything in the parts department at Cliff Findlay Auto Center was amazing. He wanted pictures.
We played at the park for a bit before we headed home for naps.
Sara stayed at my parents' house that night. In the morning Chris went shooting with his dad, Uncle Loren, and Uncle Theron. Their adventures almost ended with a road rage induced brawl, but thank goodness that did not happen. They were gone for a bit longer than we realized, so Sara and I tried to find things to do to kill time. Matthew was either golfing with my dad or this picture was taken when Matthew was shooting with Larry and Chris at Theron's house, but Sara and I took Aaron to Panda Express one afternoon. He was a little grumpy. This picture makes me laugh!
Later than evening we went to the cemetery to visit Larry's parents' grave sites. The entire time we lived in Kingman, we had no idea that Chris's grandparents were buried in the cemetery. It was a really special experience.
I visited a friend of my own while we were there.
We said our goodbyes that night because they were leaving so early in the morning. They were so sad to see them go!
(Aaron was naked and in the bath while these pictures were taken, which is why he isn't in any of them!)
My parents were kind enough to put the boys to bed so that we could go get Chipotle with Larry and Sara. We had a really nice time laughing and hearing Larry and Chris's road rage story. We miss them so much and we had SUCH a great visit! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Larry and Sara, for coming to visit us!!!! It means more than you will ever know!
