When we got home I was still pretty sick, but we got to work right away on our boys' room. We knew we had to get Aaron out of his toddler bed because he had grown out of it. He was running into the sides and waking up screaming, so we went to a few places to find a new mattress! Once we got him on a twin, he stopped waking up in the middle of the night.
We went to IKEA and got a new mattress for Matthew (Aaron now uses Matthew's old one) and a few other things for their room. IKEA also had free kid's meals, so they got to eat for free!
We got Aaron a special little light for under his bed. It was great while it lasted! Last week Aaron kicked it off during the night. We need to fix that soon. Aaron was also so proud of his new Angry Birds bed. I can't believe what a big boy he is now!
Matthew now has a bed tent on his bed. It's pretty cool in there!
We also cleared out one of their closets and turned it into a reading area. I'll post pictures of that later.
On New Year's Eve we had a little celebration with the kids that started with Icees from Target.
We also made some salsa and had some sparkling cider.
After dinner we went outside and lit what we thought were sparklers. Apparently they weren't. It was a little dangerous, what with sparks shooting out of the tips and all... but the boys thought it was awesome!
We put the kids to bed and watched the ball drop on TV together. We barely made it to midnight to exchange our new year's kiss and then fell fast asleep!
