There is so much to do in Philly during the holidays. At the Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey there was a DreamWorks Santa event featuring Shrek and other DreamWorks characters. It was free and we got to make a reservation online. It was awesome! We went on sort of a motion ride in a sleigh and went to see Santa. The boys really liked it. It was super interactive and really fun! Chris was studying for finals, of course, but the 3 of us had a great time.
We went to Dickens Village again. This time we went with our friends Sarah and Kimberly Samaniego. It's always more fun to do stuff like that with friends!
At the end of Dickens Village there is a Santa. Usually it's quite busy and it's just a normal, quick visit with Santa. This Santa, however, spent so much time talking to the three kids! Kimberly asked for a cat and Santa kindly explained to her how a cat wouldn't survive the cold temperatures on his sleigh, and that Kimberly wouldn't want to hurt the cat, would she? So they settled on a cat stuffed animal.
A local church on Street Road does a live nativity every year. We went this year and once we walked inside there was a super cool village that we looked at. It was so neat! I used to love our little village we used to have when I was a kid.
The live nativity was pretty cool. They also had free hot chocolate, s'mores, and crafts for the kids. They did some sort of production and it was cool, but you lost the reverence that a live nativity can have if you're just standing there being quiet.
We went to a mall show at Neshaminy Mall the day before Christmas Eve and the boys got "pirate makeovers" from Jack Sparrow.
Their mustaches and goatees were so crazy to look at, but they thought it was awesome. They also saw Marshall from Paw Patrol there at the mall! Aaron was confused and couldn't figure out why he was so big. It was a fun day and we got lots of cool, free stuff!
