Mother Daughter NYC pt. 1: The Train, the Temple, & Gray's Papaya

The last time my mom and I took a trip together was when we went to San Francisco in March 2005. This trip was long overdue! For my birthday this year my mom sent us to NYC for 2 nights. She stayed in Philly while my dad flew home. Then the next day we went to NYC and Chris watched the kids for a few days. My husband is amazing, by the way!

We took the train, which was a pretty cool experience for my mom. She had never ridden transit like this before. We hopped on SEPTA and took it to Trenton, NJ. Here we are at our train station after Chris dropped us off!

The train ride to Trenton is pretty quick. We got to our platform and accidentally go on an Amtrak instead of NJ Transit. What a difference! Talk about luxury. We weren't the only ones who go on the Amtrak, though. Apparently a bad announcement was made about about 9 people got on Amtrak thinking it was the NJ Transit train. The nice thing about our little mistake was that it shaved off around 30 minutes of our trip! We had to get off on the next stop and then wait for the NJ Transit train, but we skipped so many stops by that time that it was worth it.

We got to Penn Station and made our way to 66th & Lincoln Center so that we could attend the LDS temple.

After the temple we walked over to Gray's Papaya to have lunch. Since we both love Fools Rush In, it was fun to try their famous hot dogs together. My take on them? They were delicious, but they still can't compare to Cupid's in Los Angeles.
