A Day Date & the Dermatologist

Matthew & Aaron had school until December 23rd, so during Chris's break we went on a breakfast date. It was so nice to spend time together during the day!

Then another day we took Aaron to Cherry Hill, NJ for a morning. We walked past a Build a Bear Workshop and I am such a sucker! I had a gift card to use and I remembered that last Christmas we took Matthew to get his Rudolph and he got Aaron a puppy... But Aaron had never experienced it himself. I always wanted a Build a Bear stuffed animal and had never been until we took Matthew, so I think these are more for me - being able to watch how excited they are!

I gave Aaron some options (they had quite a few on sale) and he chose a bunny for himself and a Frosty the Snowman for Matthew. He got such a kick out of washing them and making sure they were all ready!

Aaron started to get a little restless at the end and wanted some clothes for his animals, but we didn't want to get them into that. No clothes for our new animals! He was happy anyway and was so excited to give Frosty to Matthew.

In other news, we noticed a mole in between Matthew's toes that gave us some concern. It's a light brown color with a dark brownish/blackish colored dot in the middle of it. It also has irregular borders. We took him to see his pediatrician and they said skin cancer is so uncommon in kids where there is no family history. Our family history is a little uncertain. It's possible that Chris could have had skin cancer removed, but he was treated homeopathically and he never saw a doctor. So the pediatrician recommended we see a dermatologist because of the way it looked and it's location. So off we went! We were able to get an appointment pretty quickly. We had to wait for a while in the waiting room and outside (because the waiting room was so busy), but we had a good time.

So the verdict? He's getting it removed in March because the dermatologist said it's just better to not risk it. They almost always remove moles when they're found in locations that don't see a lot of sun because they are at a greater risk for skin cancer. Matthew is pretty nervous about it getting cut off, but hopefully it goes smoothly!
