The Shore pt. 2

Our first morning at the shore was spent kayaking at Miss Chris Marina. I was really looking forward to this! When Chris and I went kayaking in Catalina Island in 2011 we had such a great time and I knew that Matthew and Aaron would love it!

It was such a beautiful and quiet morning. It was a little chilly, but once the sun came out it got nice!

There were quite a few little islands like this one and each of them had giant osprey nests on them! We didn't see any of the birds, but we saw their nests. They were enormous!

There were so many little crabs that we saw on the shores. It was crazy to see them suddenly all move - they were camouflaged until we scared them and then they all would move at once! It looked like the ground was moving.

After we went kayaking we played miniature golf. This was fun, but we realized that while Matthew is old enough to play miniature golf nicely, Aaron definitely is not. It was a pretty rough go around with little Aaron, but we survived and I think they had fun.

This picture is pretty symbolic of our game of mini golf. Matthew is super stoked and pretending to be a pirate. And Aaron is just pouting.

After mini golf we stopped by a street fair that we passed by on our way back to the hotel. They had a bunch of kid games and activities, as well as some food and booths that were pretty interesting to walk around.

This slide was really fun for them! They slid down on burlap sacks into a giant pile of hay.

They made macaroni necklaces...

And they got to paint/color seashells!

It was really fun to be there. It had a small town feel but had a lot to occupy our time. We had lunch at a little Italian place down the street before heading back to our hotel.
