We realized after leaving the zoo that we were going to be hitting terrible traffic, so we thought we would try and avoid it. It ended up taking just as long because instead of traffic on the freeway, we had traffic on the side roads. But the drive was gorgeous! We drove through Maryland and Delaware and we crossed the Chesapeake Bay.
We stopped for dinner in some sleepy little town about an hour from home. We ate at Ruby Tuesday and shared some dessert, which was the highlight of the boys' night.
It was so nice to finally get home!!! We had a great time together. We even stayed under budget! I feel so lucky to be close to places like Washington DC with so many fun (and free) things to do as a family.
